Selina
This
is a small face carving I completed a few weeks back based on an old
sketch of that felonious felines alter ego; Selina Kyle. More of an
exercise in depth perception than anything else, the problem often
being that the flawless blank of timber you'd like to use
doesn't have the perfect amount of depth or thickness.
This
of course tends to flatten the features of your subject and maintaining
the illusion of depth, particularly in something as familiar as a face,
becomes a real challenge.
Nice to see a piece of maple become something other than a window box or skirting board.
Miss Kyle has already found a home and is not for sale.
