This one is fairly self explanatory, the medium is camphor wood and the grain lent itself beautifully to the idea. The model was a juvenile smooth conch shell.
There is no plinth for this piece, I have however made a spot on the shell where it can be sat to show off the grain to best effect, as in the first photo below.
I may have to do some more variations on this theme... the fiddleback in this one was really pretty.
