Mugshot
As a South coast resident for most of my life, I've developed a great love of the ocean, most of the creatures that live in it and a fascination with nature in general.

You might notice a strong marine theme in the galleries. This has been driven by my experiences on and under the water and will likely continue for many years to come.

As for the work itself; the majority of timber that I use is found long dead on the floor of the forests near my home. Finding the happy medium between showing off its natural character while getting around its flaws such as termite spoil and cracking is always a challenge.

There's a certain magic in taking a piece of timber that looks like it's only good for firewood and then uncovering a polished, mineral like grain underneath the surface. Often, the idea you start with has to adapt itself to a chasm of spoil you weren't aware of in the centre of the piece.

Sometimes it works, sometimes there's a lot of swearing...

In any case, as the work progresses the gallery will be updated along with notes on where the respective pieces can be seen and purchased.

Enjoy.
